TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT!

YouTube for English: Choose your content wisely! 📺⏯️

Turn your watch sessions lit 🔥 with the right approach!

Introducing Teacher Erica May Esguerra, the newest member of the EZ English Club!

In the age of information overload, curating your learning resources is crucial. When it comes to YouTube, sifting through countless videos to find quality English learning content can be daunting.

The key? Identifying channels that not only entertain but also provide structured language exposure, effective vocabulary building, and opportunities for pronunciation practice.

By strategically selecting your videos, you're essentially building a personalized English learning curriculum that aligns with your interests and goals.

Want to learn English on YouTube without the boredom? Here's the secret:

  • Speak Clearly: Look for channels with natural speakers. Make sure it matches your interests to stay hooked.

  • Subtitles Are Your Friend: Accurate captions are key to expand vocab and nail pronunciation.

  • Edutainment Time: Channels made for learners offer lessons and tips. Ideally something aligned with your hobbies and career goals, as you might think of a project along the way!

Try this today:

  1. Find videos on stuff you love (tech reviews, vlogs) with subtitles.

  2. Write down fresh words or phrases.

  3. Say sentences out loud to boost your speaking skills.

With the right videos, English will come naturally while diving into your passions. It could also open doors to becoming a content creator or influencer in the tech space, providing reviews or tutorials!

MASTERY PRO-TIP

Interested in a podcast? Speed-listen to test your understanding! 👟

Catch up on your favorite podcasts while testing your English! 🏅

Efficiency is key.

Speed listening to podcasts isn't just about consuming more content; it's about training your brain to process information faster, which is an invaluable skill for English learners, especially those in the tech industry.

By listening to English-language podcasts at 1.5x speed (or even faster as you become more comfortable), you're challenging your auditory comprehension and sharpening your focus.

Listen to podcasts at 1.5x speed (tech, freelancing, biz). Here’s why and what to note:

  • Faster Brainpower: Trains your brain to process faster speech.

  • Focus Unlock: Sharpens listening skills & understanding.

  • Time Saver: Learn more in less time.

What to note:

  • Vocab Vault: New words for your word bank. Expanding your vocabulary strengthens your ability to communicate effectively.

  • Key Points: Summarize the main points. Capturing the essence of what you heard cements learning and comprehension.

  • Speaking Notes: Catch the speaker's style. Picking up their style enhances your ability to speak confidently.

Long-term, it levels up comprehension and boosts your ability to handle rapid-fire speech, a must for the tech scene.

EZ LAUGHS 😂

Did you notice how some words end the same but are pronounced differently?

English spelling is a mess because it borrows from many languages and hasn't been updated to match pronunciation changes over time:

  • Cove and Move come from Old French and kept a long "o" sound.

  • Love and Glove come from Old English and kept a short "u" sound.

  • Dove (the bird) also comes from Old English, but Dove (past tense of "dive") follows the long "o" pattern.

That’s why cove and move rhyme, but love and glove don’t!
